With over 66 million young people aged 10–24 nearly a quarter of the population, Indonesia’s future is in their hands. ARI believes empowering them with knowledge, skills, and agency turns potential into progress. We are youth-led. Our team, advisors, and champions are young people themselves ensuring our work is real, relevant, and rooted in lived experience.
We are Aliansi Remaja Independen (ARI) a youth-led foundation from and for young people in Indonesia. For over 12 years, we have been empowering adolescents and youth aged 10–24 through evidence-based programs in Health, Diversity, and Entrepreneurship. As a non-political and non-partisan organization, ARI is built on the principle that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but essential partners today. Our structure is led by youth aged 15–26, ensuring that every initiative is shaped by the voices and experiences of those it aims to serve.
Headquartered in South Jakarta, ARI operates across 10 provinces, reaching diverse communities from urban centers to remote rural areas. With a growing network of partners and over 1.2 million young people reached cumulatively, ARI continues to be a trusted movement builder celebrating diversity and transforming youth potential into lasting social change.
At ARI, empowering young people isn’t just a program it’s a mission.
We believe Indonesia’s future is built by young people who are equal, informed, and actively shaping their own lives and communities. For over 12 years, ARI has stood with young Indonesians especially those
from marginalized groups on the frontlines of health, diversity, and entrepreneurship. Our work is rooted in evidence, meaningful youth participation, and human rights. We don’t just deliver services—we build capacity, influence policy, and amplify youth voices so they can lead change.

It brings a new spirit for me that in the hands of young people, the movement will continue to grow
Without ARI, I might have been married, and I wouldn’t know what my life would be like. ARI has invited me to know my rights and taught me how to get a job.
One of the most powerful things about being a Teman Muda is the sense of equality we share. We made a collective decision not to use ‘Kak’ a term that traditionally reflects age-based hierarchy because it doesn’t reflect who we are. In ARI, young people aren’t just 'guided' by older ones; we work side by side, learn from each other, and lead together.
Before joining the Wired for Work program, I felt stuck. I didn’t believe I had the skills or confidence to get a job or start something on my own. But the W4W Life Skills module changed that. Today, I’ve started a small online business and I’m helping other young people in my community. The program didn’t just teach me skills it showed me that I have the power to shape my own future.
CHOICE recognizes that ARI has rapidly evolved to engage young people more meaningfully, supported by a network of local youth in their organizational structure and activities.
